Friends are Back from AZ

Another great day in the 80's or should I say finally a day in the 80's!!

Spent most of the day with friends who just returned from AZ - Lloyd and Gail and Myron and Jean. Was fun to catch up on their AZ adventure and enjoyed a few refreshments with them.

Got home a thought mmmm this is a good day for the Ice House - a small pub in Mission that has live music in the outdoor patio on Thursdays and Fridays. We stopped and and sure enuf there was good music, nice crowd and cold beer. The band is from our park so also met up with some of the neigbors and also met a couple from MO - had a nice visit with them, exchanged cards with plans to meet up again. They have just purchased a home in Green Gate but can't take possession until 4/1.

Anyway finally a normal TX winter day!!

Weather is warming up!

Forecast is for normal temps for the next 5 days - yaaaaaaa! for the sunshine.
Maybe we will get some hot weather before we head back to MN in 3 weeks.

Been a fun week with Larry and Rosie -they arrived last Saturday - checked out Mexico again (lines were as the weather was nice), played lotsa cards and games, helped Rosie with computer issues, Larry took a nap, danced Wednesday night at Fiesta and changed out the cold MN oil from his van and replaced it with a warmer "spanish version".

Saw a great show at Bentsen Palm RV park www.bentsenpalmpark.com on Sunday - Bruce and Elaine Nelson from Erhard, MN put on show every Sunday and invite another guest performer. Last Sunday the guests were Sherwin and Pam Linton www.sherwinlinton.com - what good show - great music and lotsa laughs!

They head over to Donna to visit other friends but we will all be getting together Sunday at a new venue in the LaJoya area - for a hayride, refreshments and a meal.

Today Vicky and I got caught up on work items - spent most of the morning on the phone in planning meetings.

Not so good news from home as our son was laid off - contruction is very slow in MN and even the electricians are being hit hard. His first day of knowing did turn into some pretty good leads so he has some calls to make.

2/18/10 Dancing at Riverside

Thursday was another cool, rainy day here in the valley. It seems it's the winter of rain and 50 degree weather. The weekend looks promising with three days of 80 degree weather being forecasted. Vicky made two pans of carmel rolls for the park "Flea Market and Craft Sale" and had them up to the hall shortly after 8:00am. I walked up later and looked around but didn't see anything I couldn't live without. Vicky purchased a couple 4-in-1 placemats - four placemats sewn together - basically one for each season. In the afternoon Barefoot Becky was playing at the new pavilion out at Riverside - actually this was the first event in the new building. The pavilion was built just to the west of the current structure, 6 large doors that can be opened in nice weather (that wasn't today!) finished on the inside with knotty pine, high ceilings and the biggest ceiling fan I've ever seen - check out the pic. It was a sell out -we figured there were about 300 people dancing the afternoon away. Was a good time. Looking forward to warm weather over the weekend.

Wedding Prep

Our daughter Kelly gets married April 10th in MN so we'll be leaving by mid March to make it home for the shower and other planning details. She is having 3 nephews as ring bearers so we purchased their tuxedos in MX, picture posted. We also got their engagement pictures I will attach.

A day in Mexico

Here's some pics of a recent day in Mexico - Vicky and Joni were checking out the Mexican Victoria's Secret.

Then onto lunch or I guess it was beer and margaritas!

Another Cool Day

Had a fun day Monday - friends from Nelson, MN stop by late in the afternoon. Bob and Joni from El Valle Del Sol were already here - our 500 card game got interrupted but we had lotsa laughs and some good times planning our summer camping outtings and gatherings at MN Polka Fests around MN and WI.

Worked most of the morning then went for lunch at the Methodist Church in Mission, they have a great Sub and Soup luncheon every year which was very tasty.

Finally got the garage painted (inside) I think we are finally getting all the walls covered!! Try to come up with a plan of attack to get our over the counter microwave installed. Need to remodel the cabinet - may have to call on my friend Pete for some help. Have talked to a couple of cabinet makers but they don't seem to be too interested.

Weather continues cool but not as cold as forecasted. Predicted frost Monday night but only hit 45. Big warm up coming this weekend and it looks like for more than one day!!!!

Still beats the cold and snow of MN!

Our first post!!

Another day in the RGV! This must be our 29th day already. We have really enjoyed it although it's been on the cool side. Not having to deal with the snow and cold in MN makes it all worth while.

We have been following many of you in your travels for about 6 months so thought we best start sharing a little of our lives too. We have a home in Mission TX where we spend about 2 months of the winter. We've been coming to the valley since about 1990, first to visit Vicky's folks for about12 years then in 2004 we brought our 5th wheel for our first winter vacation. We bought our home here in 2008 with the plan to sell our home in MN, hopefully within the next 12-18 months and then become fulltimers and see the country. So it has been very interesting and informative to read about all your experiences. We are looking forward to meeting many of you in the coming months and years.

With that brief intro we'll close for today. More to come later. Have a great day.
